How it works

Donanemab (Kisunla) is a monthly IV infusion that targets amyloid plaques. Trials showed about 35% slower decline over 18 months in patients with low-to-medium tau burden.

Who qualifies

  • Confirmed early-stage Alzheimer's.
  • Amyloid biomarker positive (PET or CSF).
  • Able to attend monthly infusions and frequent MRIs.
  • Not on chronic anticoagulation in most clinics.

Frequently asked questions

Does Medicare cover Kisunla?
Yes, for eligible patients with amyloid confirmation and ongoing safety monitoring.
Can I switch from Lecanemab to Donanemab?
Possible, but the neurologist will weigh ARIA history and tau burden first.
